The Beech House is a delightful one bedroom property nestling in a secluded and private corner of the small and exclusive Olive Grove. The Olive Grove villas are situated Roman style around the large shared swimming pool, which in turn leads to the gravelled off-road parking area. At the entrance to the property there is a large date palm, roses and bougainvillea, and dotted around the pool there are a number of plants in traditional clay pots. Situated only 5 minutes flat walk from the sandy beach, and excellent tavernas and shops in the village of Almyrida, this villa represents excellent value for money. Climb the outside staircase at The Beech House, and you will find a private 50m2 fully tiled roof terrace which is equipped with a table and chairs, sun-beds and an umbrella and is the perfect spot for sunbathing. There are beautiful views to the olive clad hills which surround Almyrida, the village itself, and the stunningly beautiful White Mountains.

Sited on the west side of the pool, the villa’s front terrace enjoys early morning to mid afternoon sun. Equipped with a dining table and 4 chairs, the front terrace has two sets of doors which lead into the open plan living room/dining and kitchen area, and the double bedroom respectively. The villa is a pretty pale yellow colour and has warm coloured wood doors, windows, shutters, pergola and kitchen cabinets. The thoughtful English owner has also carefully picked wooden furniture throughout the villa to match, and the living room has two comfortable bed settees which provide additional sleeping for an extra 2 persons if required. The fresh and airy interior of the villa has been designed to easily cope with Crete ’s long hot summers. The shower room is finished to a very high standard with beautiful pale terracotta and light peach tiles, and a window made out of frosted glass bricks. Many modern comforts have been provided for at The Beech House including a TV, DVD/CD player, a washing machine, and an air conditioning unit the living room. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season the a/c unit also double up as a heater.

The Beech House is ideal for a couple or a small family who are on a budget but who still expect extraordinary comfort and convenience. An easy walk back to the villa after an evening out at a taverna, means that you will never have to worry about drinking and driving.

Accommodation.
Ground floor (2 steps from the pool terrace): Open plan living room, kitchen and dining area, 1 shower room, and a pool facing terrace. The front door leads off the front terrace into the living room area. There are 2 couches which each fold out into a single bed and are covered in a rich blue material that is woven here on Crete , a coffee table, a TV/DVD table, and a dining table and chairs which seat 4. The modern kitchen area is fully equipped and includes an electric cooker, a fridge/freezer, a microwave, a kettle, a coffe maker, and a toaster. The kitchen window faces north and looks to the neighbours outside staircase, patio, fig tree and the adjacent olive grove. Just off the living area is the fully tiled shower room which has a shower, a white washbasin, a mirrored cabinet, a toilet, and a washing machine. The double bedroom has a double bed, 2 bedside cabinets with reading lamps, an alarm clock/radio, and floor to ceiling built-in wardrobes with hanging and drawer space. The double bedroom has a set of double doors leading out onto the front terrace.
Roof/Sun Terrace (17 steps up from the front terrace): Fully tiled with sun-beds, umbrella and BBQ.

Location

The heart of the village of Almyrida is only 300m from Beech House, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars - most of which has free WIFI internet access, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, 1 clothes shop, a pharmacy, an organic fruit and vegetable shop, 2 cash machines, and an off-license. Also in Almyrida there is Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information and guided tours, a scuba diving centre, and a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. A few minutes by car from Beech House, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio , lace makers in Gavalohori , and silk makers in Kalamitsi . For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.
