From the pretty beach resort of Almyrida, a country road winds its way uphill for 1.65kms to the small hillside hamlet of Aspro. Villa Orocco is a lovely bungalow with an elevated position on one of Aspro’s upper terraces and therefore enjoys glorious views over the surrounding olive and pine clad landscape and across the sea to Karga Island and the Akrotiri Peninsula. The villa is a sophisticated home with all the modern comforts and facilities important to those wishing to have a very relaxing holiday. Special attention has been paid to ensure that the interiors and the many sitting out areas are as comfortable and as romantic as possible. We consider Villa Orocco to be one of the most attractive properties for couples or small families to be found on Crete.
The beautiful panoramic views and the gorgeous infinity pool are two of the villa’s main features. There is a choice of sun or shade on the well furnished outside areas which include a covered dining terrace, and a spacious fully tiled roof terrace which, for obvious reasons, is also known as the sun terrace. The intimate pool area includes a large built-in barbeque area with its own mini-kitchen that has natural stone columns and a red tiled roof. The living room and bedrooms have sliding double doors which lead out onto the wrap around verandah and pool terrace, below which the land drops away from the property ensuring fantastic views. Poolside relaxation continues under the stars on the warm summer evenings that Crete is famous for. Lights twinkle in the distance from the Akrotiri Peninsula and from the ferries in Souda Bay that are setting off on their nightly journey to Athens.
Villa Orocco has been stylishly furnished and fitted to meet expectations of high modern standards. The artistic British owners have put a special emphasis on comfort, quality and romance, having named the villa after the pier where they were married. The romantic theme is evident in the sumptuous red coloured corner seating unit in the living room, co-ordinating arm chair and wall prints, wrought iron beds with Tempurpedic space foam mattresses in the bedrooms, gorgeous kitchen counters and breakfast bar made from black marble with silver and blue flecks, and even a 3 seater swing bench on the dining terrace. The many modern amenities include a flat screen TV, a DVD player, a ceramic hob and built-in oven, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a microwave, and air conditioning units in all the bedrooms and the living room. The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights at the start and end of the season. The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater.
If you ever want to leave this beautiful villa and you enjoy walking, there are many quiet trails leading from the villa across hills and through olive groves, which can take you to Almyrida, Gavalohori, Douliana, Tsivaras and Kera Cove. If you prefer to drive, you are only 4 minutes by car to the sandy beaches, and many shops and tavernas in Almyrida. Villa Orocco is located on a cul-de-sac with just a few exclusive villas which guarantees a quiet and relaxing holiday.

The lovely village of Almyrida is only 1.65km from Villa Orocco, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license, an organic fruit and vegetable shop, a pharmacy, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information and excursions. Also in Almyrida there is a scuba diving centre, and a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. A few minutes by car from Villa Orocco, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.

Any steps? How many? 17 steps to the roof terrace. This house is suitable for the elderly or people with disabilities.
How private? Areas of privacy. The roof/sun terrace can be seen by 3 semi-occupied villas set behind Villa Orocco. The pool terrace has been screened from the villa behind and the villa to the side and is therefore mostly private. The front terrace is also mostly private.
