1 double bedroom, 1 studio style triple bedroom in the lower level, plus a 3rd sleeping area in the lower level with a sofa bed. Sleeps a maximum of 6 persons. Shared swimming pool (7m x 4m & depth 1.60m) We are the exclusive agents for Kyra’s House which is a lovely modern split level villa in a small row of villas, nestled on a terraced hillside only 200m from the sandy beach of Almyrida. The villa is conveniently positioned in the middle of the row, next to the entrance archway to the pool terrace, which gives quick and easy access to the swimming pool. Both the pool terrace and the villa’s 2 balconies have fabulous uninterrupted views of the olive clad hills that surround the village and The White Mountains which are snow capped for at least 6 months of the year. Just 3-4 minutes walk from the beach and many excellent tavernas, cafes and shops, this villa is a great choice for those seeking value for money, beautiful views, comfortable accommodation, and easy access to the many local amenities. Larger groups or families who like to holiday next to each other but still value their privacy, might like to consider also booking either/both of the 2 other villas that we handle in this small terrace of 5 villas. The villa’s design has been carefully thought out so that all of the balconies, terraces, and the pool area benefit from the marvellous mountain and olive covered hill and valley views. The living area has prime position on the top floor of Kyra’s House whilst the bedrooms are on the lower levels, which helps to keep them cooler during the long hot summer months. The villa has been thoughtfully and comfortably furnished with everything that you could possible need for a relaxing holiday. The 2 shower rooms and the cloak room are fully tiled. The shower rooms have blue and grey tiles, the cloak room has terracotta and white tiles, and they all have white suites. The walls throughout the villa are painted white, and there are white aluminium window frames, shutters and doors which enhance the villa’s light and airy feel which is perfect for the long hot summers here on Crete. Kyra’s House has 2 main bedrooms which can accommodate 5 persons but also additional sleeping room for up to 3 extra guests. The lower level has a large hall/extra room which has a sofa bed that folds out into a bed for 1 extra adult or 2 small children, and the living room has a couch that folds out into a bed for an extra 2 persons to sleep on. The double bedroom and the triple bedroom are both situated next to a shower room, and they are on different floors which allows for greater peace and privacy for the guests in these rooms. There is a lockable gate across the stairs to the lower level, which enables parents to have peace of mind when the younger members of the family have gone to bed. Each terrace has outdoor furniture so that you can fully unwind and take in the views, and there is a BBQ should you choose to cook on one of the balconies. In order to make your stay all the more enjoyable Kyra’s House has been finished to a high standard and includes; pine kitchen cabinets with white fronts and a built-in wine rack, peach and terracotta mottled effect kitchen worktops, a breakfast bar, a microwave oven, a washing machine, a TV, a DVD player, a CD player/radio, and air conditioning units in the bedrooms and living room. The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights early and late season. There is a parking area set just off the small road below the villa that is for the sole use of the guests of the Almyrida Heights villas. Kyra’s House has a number of outdoor balconies and terraces which are on different levels so that there are always seating areas with either sun or shade. At the front of the villa is a small gravelled area that has been adorned with 3 large traditional clay pots that have been planted with palms. The south facing pool terrace is set high above the road with natural stone paving around the shared pool. There are sun-beds, umbrellas, and a panoramic view of the valley and mountains. There are olive groves on 2 sides of the Almyrida Heights row of villas, yet this beautiful countrified setting is so close to the centre of the village. This is the perfect spot from which to stroll out to dinner without having to worry about driving home. Accommodation. The shower room is very large and has a shower unit, a white washbasin, a mirrored cabinet, a toilet, and a washing machine and laundry basket. LocationThe centre of the village of Almyrida is only 250m from Kyra’s House, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, a wonderful jewellery shop, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license, a pharmacy, an organic fruit and vegetable shop, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information and guided tours. Also in Almyrida there is a scuba diving centre, and a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. For a change of pace, a 15 minute walk uphill (or 10 minutes downhill!) will take you to the main square in the neighbouring village of Plaka . There are lovely shady mulberry trees under which the locals sit to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a delicious meal or even just an ice cold frappe. Plaka was one of the original village sets for the film “Zorba the Greek” and it still has quaint whitewashed houses and narrow streets leading off from the square. A few minutes by car from Kyra’s House, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio , lace makers in Gavalohori , and silk makers in Kalamitsi . For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 30 minutes away by car. Villa amenities
Rental PricesAll prices shown are per Villa, per Week, in Euros. Not per person! These prices include a free Welcome Pack, a villa information folder, and detailed directions to all of the sights from the guide book, “Crete on the Road” by Frankie Miles.
F.A.QAny steps? How many? 28 steps from the parking area to the grassed front area (the steps are not taken all at once as they are spread across a number of gentle terraces). 8 steps from the grassed front garden to front door on the middle floor of the house, 16 steps from the middle floor to the lower floor, 16 steps from the middle floor to the upper top floor, 8 steps up and then 9 steps down from the grassed front garden to the pool terrace. How private? Not especially private as the villa is part of a small row of villas, but the balconies are only seen by one of the other villas and the pool terrace. The pool is shared with 5 other maisonettes - 2 of which are rarely occupied. Nearest neighbour? The next door villa to the right is set just behind and not overlooking Kyra’s House. The next door villa to the left (Mulberry House) is only partially connected to Kyra’s House by the archway that leads to the pool terrace. Almyrida beach and facilities are within easy walking distance, and there is a limited bus service into Chania , but we recommend car hire in order to explore the varied regions of the area. |
