Off the south coast of Crete, the deep blue waters of the Libyan sea (which are less than 230 miles from the coast of Africa), are home to a variety of large fish such as tuna, swordfish, yellowtail amberjack, dorado, and barracuda. With global warming the sea has become warmer and as a result even more species of fish, including sailfish and marlin, have entered our waters.

Exciting big game fishing private charters with a very knowledgeable skipper are available to both experienced fishermen and beginners alike. For the best chance of success the boat usually goes out from Chora Sfakion harbour at either 06.00 - 09.00 or 18.00 - 21.00 and tuna is the most likely fish to be caught (on approximately 90 - 95% of the trips). Booking in advance is essential.
