Villa Agoria is a stylish modern villa with outstanding sea and mountain views, and an exceedingly convenient location. Set on a hillside, tucked away, next to an olive grove, in the corner of a tiny cul-de-sac within the boundaries of delightful Plaka village, this villa affords quick and easy access by foot to the excellent tavernas, cafes and mini markets on the popular village square. In addition, Villa Agoria is just over 1km from one of the most attractive stretches of coastline on Crete which includes the comprehensive amenities and the family friendly blue flag sandy beaches in Almyrida, making it a superb choice for anyone looking to keep car use to a minimum.

As befits such a splendid location Villa Alexandra's owners have created a gorgeous home that is modern, bright and airy, incredibly spacious and ideal for relaxed summer and off-season living. The layout of the property incorporates a main villa with 3 bedrooms and an independently accessed pool house with a 4th bedroom and a 5th sleeping area, making it ideal for large families or groups who like to holiday whilst still having the option of privacy. Our low and mid season prices, when the villa can be rented without the pool house (which would be locked) but with full access to all of the facilities, also make this gorgeous property accessible to couples and small families who want to treat themselves to a very special holiday.

The villa changed hands in 2025, and the new owners have since spent much time and not-inconsiderable expense updating the property with an artistic flair and great attention to detail. The light and airy interiors now boast contemporary décor, whilst the owners’ skill and talent as garden designers (one of whom is a regular on British TV with many awards from the Chelsea Flower Show), has been fully utilised to completely transform the outside areas into a gorgeous oasis.

Villa Agoria’s welcoming atmosphere is immediately apparent upon going from the front porch into the cozy open-plan living room / fully equipped kitchen area. A yellow couch and bright cushions provide a cheerful splash of colour and contrast beautifully with the Greek blue kitchen cabinets.  Two steps lead to a small landing with doors to the modern shower room, and 2 bedrooms, both of which have direct access out to the garden. For greater flexibility with the sleeping arrangements, 2 king-size mattress toppers have been provided so that the 2 singles beds in each bedroom can be used as king-sized beds if preferred. Many other thoughtful extras have been supplied, including free Wi-Fi, a smart TV, a portable blue tooth speaker, bedside lamps with built-in USB ports, cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, washing machine, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, ceiling fans, aluminium window frames, doors, and shutters, mosquito screens, and air conditioning units in both of the bedrooms and living room. The A.C. units double up as heaters, and there is a woodburning stove for the cooler nights early and late season (wood is not provided in the rental price), and there is environmentally solar powered hot water or a back-up immersion heater.

A few paces through the double French doors in either the living room or the 2 bedrooms, and our guests will find a choice of well-equipped terraces from which to enjoy the superlative views.  The attractive courtyard-style garden on one side of the property has been created using natural stone walls and matching local stone paving.  Fringed by a selection of established trees and shrubs including hibiscus, palms, elephant ear, pomegranate, crimson bottlebrush, bird of paradise, foxtail fern, Autumn sage, and bitter orange, the villa owners have created a beautiful semi-tropical haven whilst providing a surprisingly good level of privacy. Romantically lit at night, and a real suntrap during the day, the side garden pool terrace is comfortably furnished with sun-loungers and umbrellas for enjoying the bountiful sunshine, and thanks to its elevated position, Villa Agoria enjoys very welcome refreshing summer breezes that come in off the sea. The swimming pool itself invites you to take a cooling dip or just recline and unwind on the built-in bench whilst sipping a delicious drink. To ensure that the pool water is lovely and warm during the Spring and Autumn months, a thermal/solar cover has been provided.

A few paces along the creamy stone paving bring you around to the dining terrace and the steps up to the lounging/roof terrace, both of which are comfortably furnished and perfect for enjoying the far-reaching views of the electric blue waters of Souda Bay and the sublime White Mountains. With south and west facing aspects, the vibrant sunset is particularly spectacular from here, and at night you can sit and watch the ferries going to Athens, or the lights twinkling from the local fishing boats. The dining terrace is sure to be the setting for many al-fresco meals, some of which will perhaps be cooked on the villa’s electric barbeque, whilst others may come from the excellent local tavernas just 200m away. There are a table and chairs and a chaise-longue underneath the pergola which is covered in sail material and flanked with fuchsia bougainvillea.

When not enjoying the calming ambiance of your holiday home or lolling on a sandy beach… when not strolling through a shady olive grove or dipping in the warm crystalline waters of the Aegean Sea… when not leisurely exploring coastal niches in a kayak, learning to paddle board, or simply imbibing the area’s scenic splendors from a comfortable perch at a beachfront dining spot – Villa Agoria provides a perfect launch point for expeditions through the dramatic gorges, rural villages, remote beaches, and ancient churches for which this evocative and historic island is renowned.

**Please note that the location next to other village houses dictates a respectful awareness of noise level when enjoying the pool and terraces in this home.

***The owners of Villa Agoria also own The Buoys Villa with 3 bedrooms in nearby Paleloni which can also be rented from Villas Crete Holidays at https://www.villascreteholidays.com/villa-buoys
